Window cleaning according to the lunar calendar: which phase of the moon to wait for a streak-free shine?

Many people use the moon as a guide when cleaning their windows, since the panes should then be particularly clean. Which days should be suitable for this - and which shouldn't.

Many people use the moon as a guide when cleaning their windows, since the panes should then be particularly clean.

Which days should be suitable for this - and which shouldn't.

That the moon has a cosmic influence on the earth is shown in the tides.

At low and high tide it can move large masses of water.

Many people therefore swear by the positive effects of the moon in the household and in gardening.

For example, dirt on windows is said to come off better on certain lunar days than on others.

Which days are particularly suitable for this?

Lunar calendar: moon phases and zodiac signs of importance

The moon goes through four different phases in about four weeks: new moon, waxing crescent, full moon and waning crescent.

The twelve signs of the zodiac, which are assigned to the four elements fire, earth, water and air, also play a role.

Depending on which of these zodiac signs the moon is in, different powers are attributed to it.

Lunar calendar: Which days are suitable for window cleaning?

If you want the moon to help you clean your windows, you should choose the following phases of the moon:

  • Fire days, also called warm days

, (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) during the waning moon or

  • Air days

(Aquarius, Gemini, Libra) with the waning moon

The waning moon is said to unleash new powers.

The cleaning agents are said to work particularly well on these days and can therefore be used more sparingly.

Stripes are avoided.

In addition, cleaning the windows should generally be easier for us on these days.

In contrast, cleaning windows is not a good idea on Water days (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio) with the waxing moon, because here you could be annoyed by streaks and limescale stains remaining.

You can find the corresponding days for window cleaning in the lunar calendar, which can be found in printed form in stores, as an app or as an online lunar calendar.

Effect of the moon on the household not proven

However, it has not been proven whether the forces of the moon actually have an effect on the result of window cleaning.

The study situation is relatively unclear, at least as far as the impact on people's behavior is concerned.

However, it is relatively unlikely that the dirt will actually come off better.

If you want, you can still start the self-experiment and clean your windows once on days when the moon is favorable and then again on days when the moon is unfavorable.

How to clean the windows

A few utensils are all you need to clean the windows without leaving streaks: a cloth, glass cleaner spray and a rubber squeegee.

Simply spray the windows with the glass cleaner, wipe off the dirt with a cloth and finally go over the windows with the squeegee.

You can then dry the remaining moisture in the corners and on the edges with a microfiber or cotton cloth.

However, many also swear by washing-up liquid or rinse aid in the cleaning water or natural home remedies such as vinegar and lemon juice to thoroughly clean their windows.
