The veteran Israeli singer Hanan Yuval is known for his many years of career, starting from his days in the Nahal band in the sixties. Recently, he was invited by the producer and director Roni Aviram to sing in the Knesset at an event on the eve of Memorial Day for the IDF martyrs that they produce for the Knesset and the Ministry of Defense. But Yuval refused the offer.
Yuval's refusal mainly concerns a video released by MK Almog Cohen (Otzma Yehudit) in which he humiliated the Arab members of the Knesset with insults, and treated them like animals with Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri by his side. "This is not my Knesset," Yuval wrote to Aviram in his message. "Dear Roni - for this Knesset, for Almog Cohen, for Dodi Amsalem, for her friend Gottlieb, for Galit Distel, for Aryeh Deri who enjoys Almog Cohen's humor, for the Knesset Speaker who, instead of reprimanding the filth, forbids their photography, which they didn't know outside, more and more".
"Shall I continue?", adds Yuval Laviram.
"And there is not even a single righteous person who will stand up and cry out. To sing there in front of these rude people is to tell a big lie to myself. There is no shortage of food and there will never be a shortage in the Yuval family home. I have worked for integrity all my life. I had to write to you. Good luck and Shabbos Shalom."
This week, the actor and comedian Idan Alterman also commented on the video uploaded by MK Cohen, saying: "Stupid, evil hearted and racist".
