(ANSA) - PARIS, FEBRUARY 25 - French President Emmanuel Macron announced today that he will travel to China in early April to ask Beijing to "help us put pressure on Russia" to "stop the aggression" and "build peace" .
The day after the publication by China of a document calling for peace talks and a "political solution", the French head of state, speaking on the sidelines of a visit to the Agricultural Fair, explained that this peace is "only possible if it involves an end to Russian aggression, the withdrawal of troops and respect for territorial sovereignty and the Ukrainian people".
"The fact that China is engaged in peace efforts is very positive," said Emmanuel Macron, asking Beijing "not to deliver weapons to Russia" and to "help us put pressure on Russia never to use chemical or nuclear weapons, and to cease 'aggression as a precondition for negotiations".
