(ANSA) - VERONA, FEBRUARY 25 - An 'out of order' performance by some members of the Caprino Veronese band who played "Fccetto nera" after the carnival party raised controversy after a video depicting them was shared online, becoming viral.
The episode took place on Shrove Tuesday, and was announced today by the newspaper L'Arena.
The video shows the area in front of the town hall of the Veronese town in the moments following the village festival;
a trumpet and a drum are heard singing the fascist song.
The band had played during the parade of allegorical carriages, and in the end some members of the body would have decided to stop in the square, where the "unscheduled" would take place.
For the president of the band, Andrea Testi, he specified that he did not witness the event, which took place "when the carnival was already over, as well as the parade and the performance of our band. So the fact happened in another context. However, I saw the video . I can't rule out that it was some member of our gang. If so, I would be very sorry for what happened. However, as a gang, we totally dissociate ourselves".
Mayor Paola Arduini declined to comment on the story.
