The Camino de Brochero
was officially inaugurated
, a new tourist proposal that
involves 15 circuits and three cities
on behalf of the government of
Córdoba
, which evokes the Argentine saint José Gabriel del Rosario Brochero.
By going through the different paths that Brochero traveled during his life carrying out his solidarity actions, the initiative covers birth, childhood, youth, academic and religious training and the pastoral and social work of Brochero's life.
With an extension of 240 kilometers, the road connects three destinations in the province:
Villa Santa Rosa de Río Primero
,
Ciudad de Córdob
a and
Villa Cura Brochero
.
Pilgrim's Way, Córdoba.
Historical tour
For some decades there has been the so-called
"Pilgrim's Way"
, a 28-kilometer journey that begins in the Giulio Césare area, in the Altas Cumbres, and ends in Villa Cura Brochero.
That route that will be inside the circuit and will be the last section of the new proposal.
In Villa Santa Rosa, in the Carreta Quemada area where Brochero was born, was baptized and spent his childhood and adolescence, it is the point where the route begins.
The story continues in the Cordoba capital, where he studied and completed his religious training, and ends in the city of Villa del Tránsito -current Villa Cura Brochero- place where his work of evangelization and help to others is displayed.

The president of the Córdoba Turismo Agency, Esteban Avilés, stressed that the proposal "will allow these 15 circuits that we have already identified around the life of Brochero to come true in these three emblematic cities in which he traced his work."
"In addition, an integrating path is added that will incorporate 25 municipalities and the private sector with all the products and services of the tourism production chain, both in Traslasierra and in the north and in the provincial capital," added the head of the portfolio. .
Thousands of pilgrims travel each year the roads to Santiago de Compostela, in Spain.
twinned towns
Days ago, the governor of Córdoba, Juan Schiaretti, had signed an agreement to carry out joint actions between the "Pilgrim's Way" of the Altas Cumbres Córdoba -in reference to the priest Brochero- and the Camino
de Santiago de Compostela
in Galicia,
Spain
. where the most important Christian pilgrimage route in Europe culminates.
On that occasion, provincial government sources indicated that the agreement "has as its main objective to carry out joint actions to develop the culture of pilgrimage in Córdoba and Galicia."
In that Spanish city, where one of the Christian pilgrimage routes that was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco culminates, Schiaretti highlighted the figure of Brochero.
"He is the first Argentine saint who was born, lived and died in the province of Córdoba, and who had as a characteristic in his pastoral and social action, riding a mule in the highest mountains of Córdoba, doing works, proposing actions for progress and also helping the humblest and most needy", he remarked.
