"Grey's Anatomy" splashes blood and emotions from all sides.
One moment a patient recovers her soul, and a scene later the doctor returns to dealing with life's dilemmas.
Say, why didn't her boyfriend tell her back that he loved her.
This has been Meredith Gray's life for 19 seasons in Shonda Rhimes' glamorous hospital.
This is the essence of "Anatomy" from its beginning until it became one of the oldest dramas on television.
"The anatomy" is a whirlwind of emotion with characters who maneuver between a heart transplant for a baby and shaky relationships, between saving a life and unrequited love.
And Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo) has been the anchor of the cryfest since the first episode.
Now she is gone.
In the episode that aired this weekend in the USA (available from this morning on yes's VOD) her character left the hospital. From today the show will be called "Grey's Anatomy".

But Gray is not dead.
She moved to Boston and will return to scenes in the season finale.
She will continue to narrate the episodes, and in the future we will receive more guest appearances.
There is nothing to mourn.
Gray was the face of "Anatomy", despite being an unhappy, selfish and arrogant character;
She made the series iconic, even though there were beloved characters from her.

The way she broke up was symbolic (caution, spoiler).
In the last scene Meredith was sitting on the plane to Boston, the phone rang and her beloved gathered courage and confessed: "I love you".
But she was unable to deal with the declarations of love and answered pathetically, before hanging up: "I'm sorry, I can't hear you well, you're interrupted."
That's how 407 episodes ended.
That's how Meredith Gray's legacy ended - in a stupid and mean way.
Truth be told, a fitting farewell to an annoying character.
