The Ministry of Education and the Authority for Excellence and Creativity have begun preparations for schools of outstanding students to participate in the National Robotics Championship, and preparing teams from vocational high schools to participate for the first time in this tournament.

During a meeting in the Ministry building, the participants from the Ministry and the Authority reviewed the report of the preparation and qualification course of a robot trainer for teachers of vocational and technical education, and discussed the reality of the participation of the teams of outstanding schools in the National Championship for Robotics for the year 2023, and the integration of the axis of applied technologies in the informatics curriculum of the schools of the outstanding and its expansion to include the themes of computational thinking ( Peppers), robotics and algorithms, in addition to following up on the requirements of schools of excellence to ensure greater participation in the National Robotics Championship for the year 2024.

During the meeting, the Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabaa, indicated the importance of introducing artificial intelligence into the educational curricula, which relies on creating models of learners according to their tendencies and thinking patterns to achieve a quantum leap in education transformation, while the Head of the Authority, Eng. Hala Dakkak, indicated that 22 schools for outstanding students are participating in the competitions.

For his part, Chairman of the Scientific Committee for Robotics at the Authority, Dr. Muhaib Al-Naqari, stressed the need to expand the base of participation in schools of outstanding students and to circulate it later to all schools, explaining the importance of introducing the curriculum of applied technologies as a basic subject in the basic (second cycle) and secondary education stages.

The National Robotics Championship is scheduled to be held next July, which is a qualifying stage for the World Robot Olympiad that will be held in (Panama) next November under the title (Connecting the World), where teams will learn during the 2023 competitions how to ship goods (logistics) using Ships, building robots that can help shipping workers and the infrastructure needed for digital technologies to be safer and more sustainable.
