Around 21 years after a murder at a US military base near Hanau, investigators have found a suspect.
The man was arrested in the US state of Florida.
The 42-year-old ex-soldier is said to have killed a comrade in November 2001, according to the US Department of Justice.
The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported on the arrest.

The US federal police FBI is investigating in the case, the ministry announced on Thursday.
The 42-year-old is accused of murder.
If convicted, he faces a life sentence.
The Ministry of Justice did not provide any further information about the possible course of events and motive.
According to the "Bild" report, the US-American who was killed was employed as a cook in the air base barracks, which lay between Hanau and Erlensee.
She is said to have been suffocated.
The airfield has since been abandoned.
