After deciding not to renew the public housing law about two weeks ago, the Minister of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Goldknopf, reached a budget agreement with the Minister of Finance - which includes an addition of millions of shekels to his office, which will be invested in promoting the public housing system, to which, according to the plan, many resources will be allocated .
Another area that will be emphasized in the next two years, according to the new budget, is increasing the supply for residences, by accelerating plans to speed up and promote marketing and urban renewal.

The budget for the public housing sector,
according to the agreement, will amount to approximately NIS 600 million, which will be used for renovation, window maintenance and strengthening of public housing apartments.
Also, the Ministry of Construction and Housing announces that it will work to purchase 2,500 new apartments as an addition to the inventory and increase the basket of services for public housing residents.
Also, large budgets will be dedicated to renovating and upgrading the existing apartments in stock.
According to the agreement, the budget that will be dedicated to accelerating construction and increasing residential supply will amount to approximately NIS 700 million, which will be used for development subsidies while deepening the subsidy for the economics of tenders, promoting construction starts and maintaining the pace of marketing in order to meet demand

Emphasis was also placed on investing in increasing budgets to deepen the discounts in affordable housing programs outside the demand areas, with the goal that more people will receive a discount in more areas.
What else will the ministry's budget cover in the next two years?
About NIS 700 million will be allocated to promote processes and speed up marketing and construction.

About NIS 90 million will be transferred to promote framework agreements in urban renewal.
About NIS 80 million will be transferred to an apartment rental company for the purpose of promoting additional long-term rental projects.

About NIS 60 million will be allocated to build an earthquake preparedness plan.
About 30 million will be directed for building strategic plans, adopting construction methods, innovation and promoting processes regarding foreign workers in construction, service, hiring, licensing processes and work.
