Two important reports published by the Ko LeOved association, dealing with the neglect of worker safety in the construction industry and their health, found that the number of victims in work accidents in Israel, who were moderately and severely injured in 2022 - was the highest in the last 4 years.
According to reports from rescue organizations, workers were injured in 611 accidents, of which 555 were injured at a medium or higher level of severity and 72 workers lost their lives.

"The connection between working conditions and the safety and health of workers is clear," reads the report of Ko LeOved, "and it is not for nothing that the majority of work accidents in Israel occur in industries saturated with labor migration and manual labor - where the working conditions are more difficult and less enforced."

According to the report, most of the accidents in 2022 occurred in the construction industry, where mainly Palestinian workers and migrant workers are employed. Half of the victims fell from a height, many of them from scaffolding, and 17% were injured by heavy objects that fell on them
. , "Even today, the state does not take responsibility for the safety of the workers and passes it on to them."
In addition, the worker calls on the decision makers to listen to the most important recommendation, which was put forward by the association 15 years ago, but has not yet been adopted, and it is: "The authority must be established immediately the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and formulate a national plan to deal with the emergency we are facing."
