But with the enjoyable leisure activity, the chance of various injuries (for example, as a result of a fall) also increases, such as a sprain in the ankle joint or the palm of the hand, or God forbid - a fracture in a joint or limb.

If this happened to your child, so that you can know how to identify exactly what happened and in order to know what to do, here are some tips that we received from Lior Wiesel, a pediatrician at the Klalit Hospital Fund, that will help you with exactly that.

The bruises are already on the way.

Let's start with a dislocation.

The sprain is manifested by overstretching of the ligaments of the joint, which connect the various bones that make up the joint, which are an important component in maintaining the stability of the joint and its range of motion.

A sprain may be caused by trauma or unnatural movement of the joint.

Most often, the sprain will manifest itself in swelling, sensitivity to touch and limited movement of the affected joint.

In severe cases, the child may not be able to move the joint at all.

In the case of a severe sprain, the parents may find it difficult to diagnose whether it is indeed a sprain or a fracture, so it is advisable to see a doctor.

Unlike a sprain that occurs in a joint area, a fracture may occur in any bone, although we usually encounter fractures in the limbs.

When it comes to a fracture, any slight movement of the affected area will cause a sharp pain, so most of the time the boy or girl will completely avoid moving the area of the affected limb.

Common signs of a fracture are significant swelling and sometimes paleness or yellowing of the skin around the damaged area.

In severe cases we can even notice the deformation of the bones.

If the injury is to one of the legs and the boy or girl is unable to bear their body weight, the likelihood of a fracture is high.

In case of suspected fracture, seek medical treatment without delay and avoid moving the affected area.

In order to relieve the pain, you can give a pain reliever (such as paracetamol or Nurofen).

After the visit to the doctor at the clinic closest to your home or at the emergency room, you will be sent to take an X-ray in order to understand the severity of the injury.

After that, the doctor will decide on an appropriate treatment.

In most cases, the affected area will be fixed in order to allow optimal recovery without complications.

If you have any question or concern, you should consult a doctor.
