The Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabaa, discussed with international organizations working within the education sector, in attendance and virtually, the joint action plan related to responding to the repercussions of the earthquake, assessing the current educational reality, preparing for general certification exams and the mechanism for supporting them.
The participants in the meeting, which was held today in the Ministry's building, reviewed the general framework for planning and implementation by the education sector, which includes assessing and qualifying the infrastructure and the various activities implemented related to educational or psychological support, and discussing the mechanism for supporting compensatory lessons for general certificates and the transitional stage, the mechanism for compensating educational losses, and the possibility of supporting educational cadres.
Minister Tabaa indicated that a working group was formed in cooperation with popular organizations and youth initiatives, including committees related to social communication, psychosocial support, and the implementation of artistic, sports and musical activities, especially in schools that have become shelters.
Tabaa pointed out that there is more than one direction to compensate for educational losses, such as virtual classes, in cooperation with international organizations, indicating the need to secure the requirements of those classes.
It is noteworthy that the organizations included the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut, French Islamic Relief, INTERSOS, the World Food Program, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the High Commissioner for Refugees, First Aid International, Triankel, Italian International Cooperation, and United Nations Project Services, Italian Civilian Volunteers, Norwegian Refugee Council, Finnish Relief, and Taalouf.
