Alexander Pereira resigned as superintendent of the Florentine Maggio Musicale Foundation in a letter sent to Mayor Dario Nardella, also president of the Foundation, and to the institution's Board of Trustees.
Pereira had arrived at the helm of the Maggio in August 2019. On 30 January he himself announced that he had received a guarantee notice for an investigation by the Florentine prosecutor's office relating to the expenses he incurred and charged to the institution.
