A couple purchased an apartment in Kfar Saba and did not connect with the design style • with a limited color palette, mosaics that bring interest to the space and an open public space, the result is spectacular • and the cost? 350 thousand shekels • Watch the change

A couple in their 30s, a lawyer and a high-tech man with their two small children, moved from Ra'anana to Kfar Saba, after purchasing a renovated and decorated apartment to a high standard.

The style was very different from theirs' so they decided on a general makeover project.

• Burning fireplace and rocking chair: winter ski vacation - all year round

• Mesmerizing: the old-fashioned house that received a modern design with a surprising twist

The project lasted about six months from the planning stage.

The first requirement was to turn the rustic and colorful apartment into a pleasant Nordic minimalist apartment, the second requirement was to fulfill their dream of a spacious and open public space, and the results are in front of you.

The palette of shades and materials

The materiality and colors of the shell kept a subdued tone, knowing that the complementary items would introduce Nordic color splashes later on.

The overall look obtained at the end is a palette of warm gray stone colors with touches of mint green and powder pink.

From a material point of view, an interesting match was made between three main finishing materials - blackened iron, concrete and wood.

the living room

The wall of the living room that bordered the corridor was removed, and in its place a trellis wall was created - from a special order.

The perforated trellis allows buffering but also a peek.

The TV wall was designed entirely as a carpentry detail combined with minimalist black iron shelves.

The kitchen and dining area

The main challenge was planning a modern and open kitchen that includes an island, in a narrow and long space.

In the early planning phase, several ideas for architectural changes came up, which made it possible to change the original kitchen design and create a space with a seating island and extensive storage solutions.

The kitchen is located to the left of the entrance, and is enclosed between two walls.

One wall was used for a tall cabinet unit that also includes the refrigerator and ovens, and in front of it is a parallel island that combines a surface and seating areas around it.

In front of the entrance, the dining area is placed in a horizontal line with the wall, which leads to the balcony and leaves the space inviting and open.

the office

The MMD was designed as a work room and custom carpentry was also ordered in it, which combines general storage for household needs, but also shelves for decoration and a stylish background for Zoom meetings.

The children's room

Originally there were two children's rooms.

During the planning, one of them became a playroom, and the other was designed as a bedroom for the two children, aged 3 and 5.

The master bedroom

The customers wanted to feel in their bedroom like in a boutique hotel.

The redesign created a spacious master room that also includes a bathroom that is all stone and white tones, which is entered through the large wardrobe that was also designed as a custom carpentry detail.

The wall closet was designed in accordance with the needs of the family, which allows you to give up the closet that was originally there, and gain another important space.

In the bathroom, the clean look of a boutique spa was maintained, and the taps themselves were also chosen in white.

For the walls and the floor, a stone-colored tile was chosen, with the application of Fishbon (Idrat Dag) for the floor and one of the walls in the space.

The children's bathroom

The flooring in the general bathroom, which is mainly used by the children, is a continuation of the flooring tiles chosen for the rest of the house, in shades of gray and stone.

Because it is a bathroom for children, attention was paid to an appropriate color combination - in one wall, small blue-gray tiles were incorporated and the taps in a matte black finish.

The blackened trellis wall is located in front of the entrance to the bathing space and creates more privacy.

The designer's word

Shmarit Kaufman tells us about the project: "The whole formulation of the concept and the choice of materials with the clients, who arrived very clear but also curious and open to new ideas, was a great experience. For example, the trellis between the corridor of the rooms and the living room was a detail that was very fun to work on. The difficulty was the panels The crowded times compared to the delivery times of the Corona period," she says.
