Angelique Kerber: "Get back to work as soon as possible"

"Welcome to our family, Liana": tennis player Angelique Kerber has become the mother of a daughter.
This was announced by the three-time Grand Slam tournament winner on Instagram.
"Having you with us is the most beautiful and overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined," wrote the 35-year-old in a message to a black and white picture on which a baby's hand in adult hands you can see.
In addition, Kerber posted the obvious date of birth "02/25/2023" as well as a red heart, a baby bottle and a shooting star as emojis.
The post was followed by numerous congratulations, including from the WTA, the Wimbledon organizers, her former Danish rival Caroline Wozniacki and German player Sabine Lisicki.
Kerber, who is in a relationship with entrepreneur Franco Bianco, announced her pregnancy in August.
That's why she missed the US Open and earlier this year the Australian Open.
Kerber does not yet have a specific time for a return to the tour.
»For me it is clear that I will only return to the tour when I am fit and feel ready.
That's why I don't put myself under pressure by defining a date," she told the dpa news agency at the end of the year.
But it is clear "that I want to get back to work as soon as possible".
