'His is interested repentance'. In Naples, the decision on the extradition of the MEP has been postponed to 14 March. Friday the decision on the custody of Kaili and Tarabella (ANSA)

"We learn, once again from the newspapers, of statements from Antonio Panzeri which allegedly involve, among others, the Hon. Andrea Cozzolino, with an imaginative and gaseous story, typical of those who know nothing and invent the incredible to earn benefits promised and obtained".

This is the accusation of the lawyers Federico Conte and Dezio Ferraro, lawyers of the MEP Andrea Cozzolino.

According to the two lawyers, it is the "dark side of interested repentance".

The same accusation is made by Marc Tarabella's lawyer.

"It should be emphasized that Mr. Panzeri, given what has come out in the press, has manifestly changed his version between his first accusations" against Tarabella "and the second ones. When someone tells the truth, he doesn't need to change his version. So at least one of the two times he lied and in our opinion he lies every time," said Maxim Toeller, the lawyer of the socialist MEP in prison for Qatargate, at the end of the hearing on the review of the pre-trial detention.

"The accusations" by Panzeri "are inconsistent and unfounded and we will prove it", he added.

The hearing before the judges of the prevention measures section of the Court of Appeal, called to rule on the extradition request of MEP Andrea Cozzolino made by the Belgian federal prosecutor in the context of the so-called "Qatargate", has been postponed to 14 March.

Cozzolino was in court in the New Palace of Justice in Naples.

The decision on the appeal against the extension of pre-trial detention for Eva Kaili and Marc Tarabella will be announced by the Council Chamber of the Brussels court on Friday 3 March.

This was reported by the lawyers of the former vice president of the European Parliament and of the Belgian MEP at the end of this morning's hearings.

Both are in a state of pre-trial detention within the Qatargate.
