March brings more money for millions of people in this country.

Not only the energy price brakes come into force this month.

Further financial relief is in sight.

The financial situation is currently particularly tense for many consumers in Germany, not least because of the increased prices in many areas of life.

A small glimmer of hope is in sight for millions of those affected.

Because the new month brings with it some innovations for many citizens, from which they should benefit financially.

Here are some important changes from March 2023 at a glance.

What will change for your money in March 2023?

The most important innovations

1. Energy price brakes take effect from March 1st

For millions of consumers of gas, electricity and district heating, the energy price brakes will take effect from March 1, 2023 and will also be calculated retrospectively for January and February.

Consumers do not have to do anything - the relief comes automatically via the billing or via lower advance payments.

However, the industry association BDEW asks for patience because of the complex rules, as the dpa news agency writes.

2. Applications for the 200 euro energy flat rate

According to dpa, students and technical students should be able to apply for the long-awaited energy price flat rate of 200 euros from March 15th.

The approximately 3.5 million beneficiaries need a BundID account to identify themselves for the application.

It is still unclear when the money will actually arrive in the applicant's account.

3. Ebay Germany eliminates fees for private sellers

Another important change is likely to interest many citizens in this country: The online trading platform Ebay will make all private sales in Germany free of charge in the future, as dpa reported on Tuesday (April 28).

The new regulation will therefore apply from March 1, 2023. So far, sellers have had to assign around eleven percent of their proceeds to Ebay as a commission.

In addition, there is a setting fee of 35 euro cents.

"The regulation applies indefinitely, but is limited to Germany," writes the news agency.

Nothing will change in the costs for commercial providers.

4. Interest rate expectations

On March 16, the Governing Council of the European Central Bank will meet for its regular interest rate meeting.

"It is taken for granted that the currency watchdogs will raise interest rates again in view of the inflation," reports dpa.

For consumers, rising key interest rates usually mean more expensive loans and higher interest rates on savings.
