New rules on migrants, 500,000 entry requests

2023-02-28T19:52:07.961Z

'It can also be organized through multilateral and bilateral agreements.' Piantedosi echoes him: 'Now new rules'. The alarm from the Italian 007: 'NGOs are an advantage for smugglers'. Fdi's request to Piantedosi becomes a coincidence: 'Tell us if there have been any gaps'. The Democratic Party: 'Piantedosi be ashamed' (ANSA)

"We will work to bring in nearly 500,000 legal immigrants this year. This can also be organized through multilateral and bilateral agreements to support legal immigration."

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, Francesco Lollobrigida during a press conference on the sidelines of his meetings in Brussels.

"Working on flows is the right path, we have a flow plan that hasn't been followed for years which can be an opportunity for those who want to come to Italy legally and safely", he added.

However, he denied that it was a 'plan': "I read some press reports according to which I would have announced a Government plan to bring around 500,000 regular migrants to Italy. In reality, I have never spoken of any plan, because there is no plan in this regard. The figure indicated by me and reported by the media refers to the number of requests for entry into our territory in the production sector, in transport, in agriculture, in the tertiary sector and so on. We have therefore not added anything to what has already been known for months, in an Italian context in which there are job offers in strategic sectors which are also undermined by measures such as basic income. We have underlined that the fight against irregular immigration is even more necessary precisely because it is an enemy of regular immigration".This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.

"

More departures correspond to more deaths, this is the absolute figure

. So what needs to be stopped are the departures to stop the dead ", added the minister.

"Italy has done everything it could do, and the numbers show it. We have welcomed more migrants than any other, but now we need to ask ourselves the problem at a European level. It is not possible for a single nation to take on the problem ", explained Lollobrigida reiterating: "Illegal immigration is the enemy of legal immigration, we are not against migration we are against illegality".

PIANTEDOSI: "NEW RULES ON IMMIGRATION ISSUES"

"It is my intention to define, in agreement with my colleagues concerned, interventions of a regulatory nature that address particularly critical issues, such as repatriations, the reception system, international protection and procedures for the regular entry of foreigners ".

Thus

the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi

, in a hearing at the Constitutional Affairs Commission on the programmatic guidelines of the dicastery.

Furthermore, for Piantedosi, "we must continue to strengthen the legal channels of entry for migrants".

"It is a tragedy that grieves us deeply and challenges our consciences to act to stop such dangerous crossings and find concrete answers to the migration issue. It is clear that this can only be done with decisive action by the EU and strong synergy with transit countries.

We must prevent those fleeing wars from relying on unscrupulous human traffickers

, responsible and supportive EU policies are needed".

Thus the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi - regarding the shipwreck of Cutro in Calabria - in a hearing at the Constitutional Affairs Commission on the programmatic lines of the dicastery.

The NGO decree "has in no way the objective of preventing relief efforts, but that they take place in an orderly and consistent manner with international standards and with which States and private entities only indirectly comply. I reiterate that the new provisions do

not introduce no prohibition on scenarios and the intervention of recovery operations

.

Thus the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in a hearing at the Constitutional Affairs Commission on the programmatic guidelines of the dicastery.

"It is unacceptable that geographically closer ports suffer the consequences of migratory pressure".

"The EU Commission has a very clear policy when it comes to asylum and the right to asylum: people who find themselves in a dangerous situation have the legitimate right to seek asylum in a safe country, including countries that make up the EU".

This was stated by European Commission spokesman Eric Mamer in response to a request for a comment on Minister Piantedosi's words on the Cutri shipwreck.

"We warn of the dangers deriving from human traffickers, responsible for endangering the lives of people who find themselves in situations of great precariousness and hardship: this is what we must fight".

"Stop, we will come and get you. This is the meaning of the humanitarian corridors".

Thus the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in a hearing with the Constitutional Affairs Commission on the programmatic lines of the dicastery, making a clarification on his statements that ended up at the center of political controversies after the shipwreck of Cutro, according to which - he said - "despair does not justifies risky travel".

"We must ensure that the land is always safer than the sea," Piantedosi said today.

"My goal is to help empty the places of detention" in Libya, adds Piantedosi.

"Creating detention centers for repatriations is very expensive, but we consider it in the program. The issue of expulsions closes the circle for irregular migratory flows. In this sense, we not only have support logistics in mind, but also contacts with countries at the origin of these flows".

Adds the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi.

"I'm so capable of getting emotional that I do it before the tragedies happen. I'm so emotional that I don't need the tragedies."

Thus the minister responding to the senator of the Democratic Party, Simona Malpezzi, who asked him if he wanted to "appear emotional and correct the words he said yesterday".

FDI TO PIANTEDOSI: 'IF THERE WERE GAPS IN CROTONE, WE NEED TO KNOW IT'

"If there have been gaps in the chain of command for timely rescue, we must know, Minister. It is not a request that FdI will leave to the opposition. We are the first to ask for it, because a ship full of children cannot be left in mercy of the waves but we reject political manipulation".

Thus

the senator of the Brothers of Italy and president of the constitutional affairs commission, Alberto Balboni

, addressing the interior minister, Matteo Piantedosi, after his hearing before the constitutional affairs commission on the programmatic guidelines of the dicastery.

PD: PIANTEDOSI SHOULD BE ASHAMED

'No one puts his children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land'. This is a phrase from a Somali poet, Warsan Shire, who describes with these words the need for people fleeing war, hunger, from violence, from contexts in which they can no longer live with their children. And for this alone, Minister Piantedosi should be ashamed of the words he used after the Crotone tragedy. I am not afraid to use these words because when the Minister in Crotone he makes what statements he is there to represent the state, he speaks in the name of the state. And Italy is not what Piantedosi represented with his words. What happened is very serious and tells us a lot about the idea that the Meloni government with respect to the issue of immigration and rescues at sea. After all, the representatives of Giorgia Meloni's party are the ones who said in Parliament that those who face the sea to escape go on mini-cruises ". So yesterday evening the president of the senators of the Democratic Party, Simona Malpezzi, in Quarta Repubblica on Rete4.

GENTILONI: "YOU CAN'T ALWAYS SAY 'EU SOLVE IT'"

- "What happened on the coast of Crotone has a dimension that is unacceptable to us. We can't get away with just saying 'Europe must solve it', not everything one can ask the EU, which has a budget equal to a seventh or eighth of the Italian one. But for me it is a reason for great optimism that it is asked, even if in a polemical way".

This was stated by the EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs Paolo Gentiloni speaking at the presentation of the book 'Sovereign Europe' by Angela Mauro.

"The EU must work on migration and the Commission has made a proposal, which I hope will go through", added Gentiloni.

BERLIN EVALUATES NEW RULES THAT WILL LIMIT NGO SHIPS

  - The German Ministry of Transport would be willing to tighten the ordinance on the safety of private ships and this could limit a large part of the rescues of migrants in the Mediterranean by NGO boats flying the German flag.

Tagesschau reports it, quoting an exclusive from Ard's Monitor program.

According to a draft by the ministry led by the liberal Volker Wissing, ships with "comparable political and humanitarian activities or idealistic purposes" should no longer belong to the pleasure craft sector.

This would result in new requirements, resulting in high costs for different technologies and insurances.
