Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger can be seen in his first series lead role from the end of May.
"I'm back, baby," says the 73-year-old actor in a short video teaser for the spy series "Fubar," which the Netflix streaming service released on Monday (local time).
Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro play father and daughter who accidentally discover they are both secret CIA agents.
Despite the lies and secrets, they end up having to work together.
Barbaro is known from series like »Chicago Justice« and »The Good Cop«;
Most recently, she directed the action film »Top Gun: Maverick«.
In the teaser for the action-comedy series, Schwarzenegger flaunts a cigar, pistol and a fast motorbike – then a slap in the groin puts him out of action.
Everything else is still top secret, except that he probably needs an ice pack, Netflix jokingly wrote in the announcement.
The start of series production is planned for May 25th.
People would always ask him when he would make another big action comedy like True Lies, Schwarzenegger wrote in a newsletter to his fans on Monday.
The series is exactly that: it makes you laugh, but not just for two hours, but for a whole season.
The cast also includes Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate), Travis Van Winkle (Transformers) and Jay Baruchel (The Kindness of Strangers).
The one-hour episode series is produced by Skydance Television and »Sopranos« writer Nick Santora.
"Fubar" is by far the most surreal project of his career, Santora said.
He grew up watching Schwarzenegger films and regularly asked his father for money so that he could see "the biggest star in the world on the big screen".
"So it's incredibly exciting for me to be developing the first television project with a script for Arnold."
