The federal court of the Italian Volleyball Federation suspended the Valsa Group Modena Volleyball player Earvin Ngapeth for seven days, starting yesterday following a disciplinary measure.
The suspension arose following a complaint presented on 22 July by the player Dragan Travica (formerly of Perugia and now in the Greek team of Olympiacos) who accused the player of Modena Volley, as stated in the official statement of the federal court of Fipav , of unsportsmanlike and defamatory behavior, through the publication of three offensive posts on Instagram.
The posts published by the French volleyball player, in one of which accusations of racism were launched (but according to the court it was a question of offenses against the opponent), had followed an episode that occurred during match 1 of the championship semi-final played between Modena and Perugia on April 13, 2022, when volleyball player Yoandy Leal, Modena, had been involved in a heated argument on the pitch with Dragan Travica, Perugia.
Regarding the seven-day suspension of Earvin Ngapeth, Modena Volley intervened today with a press release: "Earvin Ngapeth will be regularly present on the field in the semi-final match of the Cev Cup on 8 March. In compliance with the provision, the company and the player, sponsored by the lawyer Benazzi Piani of the Court of Modena, communicated that they will not release further statements regarding the matter".
The French spiker born in 1991 will not play the match scheduled for Sunday 5 March at 6 pm at the PalaPanini in Modena between the Valsa Group and Monza.
