Salvo Cavallaro, for his friends "Budy", was injured in a road accident

in the summer of 2013, after the collision with a car parked in the second row

while he was driving along via Tasca Lanza aboard a Suzuki in Palermo.

He was returning to his home in Monreale.

After that day his fight against death began and stopped today.

On February 28 Budy would have turned 36 years old.

One of her sisters had enrolled and graduated in nursing to be close to her brother.

Cavallaro was born on February 27, 1987.

After studying as a professional graphic designer, he started working in his father's construction company.

"Now you are free to fly", reads a post written on social networks by Ornella, one of the two sisters.

"I still remember your cheerful and sunny being, always smiling; may your warmth continue to warm the hearts of your family members and always watch over them", writes a friend.

"Love is indestructible and crosses all boundaries."

And again: "As your sister says, now you are free to fly ... and continue to smile and be calm and serene".

"My brother passed away in peace. Talking about it is a great suffering for me. My sister and I enrolled in the faculty of nursing to help him by following him in the care he needed over time".

Ornella Cavallaro recounts the ten years that passed after the accident involving her brother

, Salvo, who remained in a coma until today, the day he died "My brother had so much energy and so many plans. He was in love with life, with sport. Motorcycles they were his passion, he went mountain biking. Then - Ornella says again - he had the dream of creating something and together we opened a place in the centre. We had inaugurated 'Piano', as it was called, just over a month before the accident" .

Projects shattered after the tragedy that conditioned the family for the next ten years.

Salvo, on the night of the accident, he was returning home to Monreale and was traveling via Tasca Lanza aboard a Suzuki.

Arriving near a bar, he had perhaps not noticed the cars in the second and triple row.

"There was one, the one he crashed into, which was even going in reverse. Braking was useless, there was also the wet asphalt - says Ornella - Since then he has never recovered. For a long time we took him in a rehabilitation center in Ferrara. Then we started to follow him at home, especially my mother. After what happened, my sister Chiara and I decided to enroll in university and become nurses, graduating.

So we also thought we could take care of our brother.

He hasn't woken up since and has been in a vegetative coma all these years."
