Straight or pleated, pleated or smooth.

Draped and fluttering or severe, in pencil

.

Decorated with fabric petals, flower print or solid color.

    Preferably black.

Hem that strictly covers knees and calves.

Worn simply with the white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, or with the short jacket with peplum.

What is certain is that the must-have item of the Fall/Winter 2023/24 wardrobe, of the perfect Parisian chic, will be the skirt.

So decided

Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of the Christian Dior maison

, who she brought to the catwalk at

Paris Fashion Week

, a fascinating and evocative collection of the 1950s style of the prestigious French maison thinking of three famous women of the time: Catherine Dior, Edith Piaf and Juliette Greco.

The primary colors are the protagonists:

ruby, emerald, topaz yellow, blue.

The Scottish checks in restrained colors are declined in coats, jackets, tight skirts, also worn under large coats.

Like

the "corolla" skirts

.

The poplin is woven with metal thread.

The embroideries are small explosions that release light.

A collection that becomes a celebration of the kaleidoscopic image of a femininity outlined by presences that evoke a past made up of awareness, resistance, militant posture, and that suggest emotional trajectories to the new generations of women who are shaping our future.

Each collection is an opportunity for the designer to reflect on the experience of clothing in relation to the bodies of fashion and the silhouettes that define them.

The reinterpretation of Dior prêt-à-porter from the 1950s, those of its origins, is also a way for the couturier to explore the Dior story in an ever-changing way and to delve into French style through three extraordinary figures.

United by the spirit of independence that guided their choices, each in a singular way protagonist capable with life and work of contradicting those female stereotypes which, in the simplification of characters, belong to post-war imaginaries.

It is Catherine Dior's choice of growing and selling flowers as an act of resilience.

They are the voices of Édith Piaf and Juliette Gréco, in the stage presence,

Expression of the soul of Paris, of existentialist thought, which finds representation in the cinema of the Nouvelle Vague, to organize a sequence that retains elements of the heritage and mobilizes them in a narration marked by the intensity of the rhythm of poems, of literary texts that are become unforgettable songs and from the emotions of those bodies.

The experience of the dress is an embodied tactile form, a means through which to experience the world.

The Dior collection becomes the imprint of a counter-current femininity.

Rebel.

    Strong and fragile.

The floral motifs used by monsieur Dior have been recovered in the consistency of the chiné intertwined with a metal thread, which makes the fabric alive, malleable and blurs the contours of those designs, obtaining an abstract effect.
