Peeling garlic is one of the often more unpleasant cooking procedures.

It’s also much easier to do – with the help of water.

Everyone knows it: peeling garlic is often tough and your fingers stink after the time-consuming process.

Admittedly, cooking is less fun that way.

However, if you simply invest a few extra minutes before peeling, you can avoid this problem.

You don't need any extra utensils in the kitchen for this.

Just a pot of water.

Simply peel the garlic: Soak the garlic cloves beforehand

How it works: Simply place the unpeeled garlic cloves you need for cooking in the lukewarm water and let them soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

Then simply take them out of the pot again.

You will find that the garlic is all the easier to peel afterwards.

Cooking takes longer?

Place peeled garlic cloves in cold water

If you have invited many guests or want to process larger quantities of garlic for pickling, kitchen professionals also have the following tip: After they have been peeled, place the garlic cloves directly in another pot or bowl next to it, this time filled with cold water.

This will prevent the garlic from discolouring in the air if you need a little longer for the entire peeling procedure.

Store garlic properly at home

Do you want to store garlic?

If you don't have a cool cellar available, at least keep it dark and dry in the pantry or in special pots or storage boxes.

Incidentally, you can even preserve garlic for several years.
