A blockade in front of the Ministry of Finance in Oslo is dissolved – but whoever

the Norwegian police drags away here

is particularly effective in terms of publicity : climate activist Greta Thunberg is carried away in a storm of flashbulbs.

Thunberg is probably the world's best-known environmental activist - this time the Swede showed solidarity with a group of Norwegian demonstrators.

These have been blocking the entrances of several ministries for a few days and some have chained themselves.

They are demonstrating against a Norwegian wind farm with 151 turbines, which, according to a verdict, violates the rights of the indigenous Sami people.

Thunberg has been there since Tuesday, arriving to guarantee that the protests will also be heard internationally.

Ella Marie Haetta Isaksen, Sami activist

»It will be interesting to see how this protest develops over the next few days.

We have said that we will not leave here voluntarily, we will continue this government blockade and then I hope that some of the ministers will soon come to their senses and realize that the only way out of this human rights violation is to shut down the wind turbines in Fosen demolish."

"Do you think it's right to block the Norwegian state?"

Greta Thunberg, climate activist

"I mean, they should have seen it coming because they are violating human rights."

For the climate protector, human rights now have priority – over green energy.

The Supreme Court in Oslo ruled two years ago that the wind farm in the Fosen region violates the rights of the indigenous Sami, who have grazed herds of reindeer there for centuries.

More than 16 months later they are still in operation.

The demonstrators want to continue to hold out in front of the ministry, but the Norwegian police have a clear mandate:

Tore Barstad, Police Officer

"We will move them to the other side of the cordon and open the ministry so staff can go about their work."

After the brief argument, the police released Greta Thunberg along with other activists;

Norway's energy minister canceled a planned trip to the UK because of the protests.
