We really didn't expect this: Netflix announced today (Wednesday) a new prequel to "Stranger Things".
But this prequel will not air on streaming or television.
The prequel will also not be screened in the cinema, will not be printed on the pages of a book or comic book, and will not even be programmed as a computer game.

So what's left?
Get Stranger Things: The First Shadow ("Strange Things: The First Shadow") - a theater performance that will be on the West End in London towards the end of the year.

This is a project based on an original story by the brothers Matt and Ross Duffer - the creators of the original series - who also serve as the producers of the show, and directed by the esteemed Steven Daldry (director of the films "Billy Elliot", "The Hours" and "Reading Boy").
The plot of the play will take place in the town of Hawkins in 1959, about 24 years before what happened in the first season of the series, and "before the world turned upside down", according to the creators.
Exact details were not revealed, of course, but it was reported that the plot will focus on young versions of the older characters that we have come to know and love during the four seasons that have aired so far.

According to the official synopsis, in the play we will meet young Jim Hopper "who can't start his car" (and will later become the sheriff of the town);
Joyce Maldonado "who just wants to finish high school and get out of town" (and later change her last name to "Byers" and become a loving - and fighting) mother;
and Bob Newby, "whose sister doesn't take his radio show seriously" (and in the future, unfortunately, a particularly cruel fate awaits him).
So far everything is good, beautiful and routine for a small American town, but when a new student named Henry Creel moves in with his family, a new adventure begins "that will take the viewers right to the beginning of 'Stranger Things' - and maybe even holds the key to the end".

"We are beyond excited to present Stranger Things: The First Shadow," the Dappers said when announcing the show.
"It will be a surprising, scary and touching play, where you will meet new and lovable characters, as well as very familiar characters, on a journey to the past that lays the foundations for the future. We are dying to tell you more about the plot, but we won't - because it's best to find out on your own. We'll meet in London."
