In the new Italian political scenario, a woman head of government, Giorgia Meloni, has chosen to decline her public office to the male, 'The President', while the new secretary of the opposition party, Elly Schlein has publicly declared that she loves another woman.

The narration of gender identity and sexual orientation in the media were at the center of the meeting organized at the Brancaccio theater in Rome in collaboration with the first master's degree course in Italy on gender studies, Genders Studies, inaugurated on last September at the La Sapienza University of Rome.

With the title 'Jamie, permission to be yourself - A theatrical story on gender and creativity, the meeting was an opportunity to reflect on the themes raised by the musical Everyone talks about Jamie, on stage until 5 March.

'President Giorgia Meloni is right', said Professor Roberto Baiocco, full professor of Developmental and Educational Psychology, Psychology of sexual orientations and gender identities of the Master's Degree Course in Gender Studies.

'Not only because it is self-determination - explained the teacher - but also because the party is called 'Brothers of Italy' and not sisters or brothers *.

It's right for each of us to choose to position ourselves and self-determination.

I'm not saying that I appreciate the choice but I consider it consistent''.

The position of Professor Paola Panarese, president of the Master's Degree in Gender Studies, is different according to which: ''While accepting Giorgia Meloni's choice as I support freedom of expression, manifestation and self-affirmation, for a linguistic and grammatical question I personally define Giorgia Meloni the President of the Council of the Republic.

Declining it in the masculine is a grammatical error'.

And she relaunches: 'With the colleague from Gender Economics with whom we are organizing a conference of economists and feminists for next year,

As far as journalism, information and the media representation of gender identities are concerned, according to Prof. Panarese 'We are more advanced than a few years ago, but we still have work to do.

Journalism is still quite behind in the representation of sexual orientations and gender allowance.

There is a great terminological confusion by confusing women, men, transsexuals, transgenders in the news.

There has been talk of a lesbian relationship between a transgender woman and man.

Journalism does not have clear ideas and this fuels confusion.

Not to mention advertising which by its nature is a hyperbolic form of communication, very synthetic, which cannot fail to reason in stereotypes, thus giving life to distorted and distorted representations'.
