The Committee on Authorizations of the Chamber is called to judge on the possible unquestionability of the undersecretary. He had offended her in the Chamber (ANSA)

The Authorization Board of the Chamber is called to judge whether undersecretary Vittorio Sgarbi is unquestionable for some abusive statements, when he was a deputy, against Mara Carfagna, vice president of the Chamber in the last legislature.

The parliamentary body met yesterday and listened to the report by Antonella Forattini (Pd-Idp) on the matter.

The rapporteur recalled how Carfagna sued Sgarbi for defamation and brought three videos in support of the thesis that her claims were unquestionable, which were also screened.

In the three video documents, published on Facebook and reported by various online media, Sgarbi attacks Carfagna by calling her, among other things, the 'Goat' after a reminder in the Chamber for not wearing the mask correctly.

"We have seen - reads the report of one of the videos published on the Chamber website - the unprecedented call, the arrogance of a vice president of the Chamber who, with the air of a schoolteacher or principal, told me to put on a mask. But who c ... are you? In his order, based on his absolute ignorance, it would seem that there had been a polemical gesture on my part. I had the mask on, I kept it tied to my glasses, a little loose. No one said that I have to wear a mask over your ears, ignorant. I hope I never see you again and don't say hello to you. I wear the mask as I want and I'd better not wear it because it hurts. All you need is social distancing. Goat!".

In other videos the epithets used are even more vulgar.

The rapporteur - according to what can also be read in the report - has, moreover, underlined that the Giunta is called to evaluate not only whether the statements made by Sgarbi are or are not pertinent to his parliamentary activity in the concrete case but also - and more generally - whether foul language and insults can be considered opinions expressed in the exercise of the parliamentary function on the basis of the provisions of article 68, first paragraph, of the Constitution.

Now Sgarbi will be able to present a defense brief or appear to be heard.

The junta is expected to meet again next week.
