All customers need to get a gift from the discounter once a year, even for free, is a smartphone with the Lidl Plus app.

But that's not entirely true: Experience has shown that customers must have made at least one purchase by scanning the QR code, i.e. showing the app in the checkout area.
Lidl does not want to "confirm this information so far", because there is no feedback on it.
Offer for active Lidl Plus users: Free gift when shopping
All active Lidl Plus app users will receive “a Berliner or a donut nationwide free of charge in a Lidl branch within ten days”.
The coupon only has to be “activated” in the app.
When shopping, customers take a Berliner or a donut from the self-service area of the baked goods, activate the coupon either then or in advance and then show the app during the payment process.
Incidentally, the app also offers a gift for new members of the family.

If you haven't used the app yet and just had a birthday, you don't have to wait a whole year for a gift.
