"We found ourselves on the need to guarantee

maximum unity

in this new phase of the Democratic Party and we have started a discussion that will continue in the coming days to work together for the relaunch of the Democratic Party and for the challenges that await us".

This was stated by the secretary of the Pd

Elly Schlein

,

at the end of the meeting with Stefano Bonaccini

.

As for the roles, "we'll talk about them in the next few days".

The two challengers in the primaries had an hour-and-a-half meeting in the Bologna headquarters of the Democratic Party.

"Forms and ways we will see them together, in the meantime it was important for us to find ourselves on this unitary spirit to start this new phase of the party", said Schlein.

"I wanted to reiterate to Elly Schlein what I have always said during the congress and that is that if it were her turn I would have found a way to lend a hand. We will see the forms and ways as you said in the next few days, we will evaluate the thing together most useful that can be arranged, also from an operational point of view", explained the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region.

"To me - says Bonaccini - what interested me today, and for which I am very satisfied, is that we really want to try to give unity to this Pd, which has suffered in the recent and distant past and we would like to avoid new fractures. I think the shirts that we wore during the congress go off and now we have only one shirt other than that of the Democratic Party".
