Sharing passwords as a couple: "It's not respecting each other"

More than half of French people would share their passwords to their social networks – telephone and computer – with their partner. Beginnings of a certain influence or proof of a great complicity?


"Many people think that giving their password to their spouse is a mark of great confidence within the couple, but it is often a need to control", considers Pierre Nantas, psychotherapist, specialist in the couple and cyberspace.

His analysis follows a recent Express VPN study, unveiled by

20 Minutes

According to the figures, more than half of French people would share their identifiers, telephone codes, computer and social networks, with their partner.

If nearly 80% of respondents ensure that this is done for the sake of mutual trust and honesty, the finding nevertheless raises questions.

“This loving functioning says a lot about our relationship to love, to life as a couple and to our sense of intimacy, continues Pierre Nantas.

Sharing your password is accepting the intrusion.
