Samuele Ceccarelli won the gold medal in the 60m Euroindoor race in Istanbul, running in 6"48. Silver to Marcell Jacobs, defending champion, in 6"50.

The Italian Dariya Derkach, 30 years old on the 27th of this month won the silver medal in the Euroindoor women's triple jump event in Istanbul.

The gold went to the Turkish Tugba Danismaz, the bronze to the Portuguese Patricia Mamona.

Derkach, born in Ukraine, has been living in Italy (in Pagani) since she was 9 years old.

"I don't know what to say, really, I sound monotonous saying I wasn't expecting it but it is."

Thus, from the microphones of RaiSport, Samuele Ceccarelli after winning gold in the 60 meters at the Euroindoor in Istanbul, ahead of Marcell Jacobs.

"It's a great satisfaction - he says -, I think it goes without saying, I was in my first important competition and I won. I stiffened a bit, there were expectations of me, but then I tried to stay as relaxed as possible possible, and I thought I was racing against myself. Don't I look excited? I may be on adrenaline, but on the podium I think a little more emotion will come out."

"Then in a month I will have realized what I have done - says Samuele Ceccarelli, new 60m European champion -. Here the level was very high,

the opponents were great champions, perhaps being a 'freshman' brought me luck.

Thanks to all those who cheered for me and to those who will spend a kind word for me, it's nice to have this remote support". Disappointed, but not too much, Marcell Jacobs. "I was sure that Ceccarelli would win - he tells Rai -, for how he had run he was in top form.

Obviously I was hoping it wasn't the golden one, but at least it stayed in Italy.

He was good, I gave everything I had and did everything possible to run faster but he got ahead of me and I'm happy for him: the one who later became European champion beat me at the Italian championships, hats off ". Even today after the race we saw a limping Jacobs. "It's a pain I already had,

but I didn't think about it - he explains - and I threw myself onto the track, because when you race in the blue jersey you have to give 110%.

Now I'm aiming for the outdoor season, in which I'll have an excellent competitor, there's the World Cup and we'll be able to do very well with the relay too.

The blue movement is fantastic, here we have already won 2 golds and 2 silvers, I am proud to be the captain of this national team".
