"On the way to making the world a better place!" is written on the side wall of the "Mizvah Mobile".
The mobile synagogue will not only be used in Berlin, but also throughout Germany if necessary, especially where Jewish people live but the nearest Jewish community is far away.
The synagogue on wheels is a kind of mobile home for educational work, but also for religious services.
People in Germany do not have the opportunity to learn about Judaism, go to Jewish services or celebrate Jewish traditions everywhere - the mobile synagogue should make this easier, they said.
Finding answers in the »Mizvah Mobile«
Rabbi Teichtal told the Berliner Morgenpost that many people had questions about Judaism but perhaps did not have the courage to ask them.
Or they wouldn't know where to find answers.
"And then there's the mobile mitzvah on the corner, and I can go in and ask questions." The synagogue on four wheels should be in squares, in schools, in Berlin and everywhere in Germany where people want to know more about Judaism said Teichtal.
Actress Susan Sideropoulos, who comes from a Jewish family, also attended the inauguration.
She is known to series fans from the RTL classic »Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten«.
Teichtal showed her how the mobile synagogue was set up, which included a small reference library and a Torah scroll.
