(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, MARCH 05 - "I express my sorrow for the tragedy that took place in the waters of Cutro near Crotone".
The Pope said this in the Angelus adding: "I pray for the numerous victims of the shipwreck, for their families and for those who survived. I express my appreciation and my gratitude to the local population and to the institutions for their solidarity and welcome towards these brothers of ours and sisters. I renew my appeal to all so that similar tragedies do not happen again. Traffickers of human beings must be stopped, do not continue to dispose of the lives of so many innocents. Journeys of hope will never again be transformed into journeys of death. The clear waters of the Mediterranean are more bloodied by these dramatic incidents. May the Lord give us the strength to understand and to cry", concluded the Pope. (ANSA).
