(ANSA) - LOS ANGELES, MARCH 05 - Salvatore Esposito returns to Hollywood at the stroke of his first ten years of career.

Time for balance sheets, but without nostalgia.

Because if the past is "a great miracle" - he says thinking of when he set foot on the set of 'Gomorrah' 10 years ago - the future is full of projects on both sides of the ocean.

The ex-boss with a boyish look and imposing physique is a guest at the eighth edition of Filming Italy - Los Angeles, the Italian film festival directed by producer Tiziana Rocca, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles.

   Esposito is comfortable in Hollywood.

After his overseas debut in the fourth season of the Coen brothers' 'Fargo', he will star in another major US production in the spring.

"The film will be shot in Europe with an international cast, but the rest is top secret," he told ANSA, sitting by the pool at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

"On American sets, the actor is more protected. A trivial example: they use stunt doubles for all the technical rehearsals, so you can think exclusively of your interpretation. On 'Fargo', I felt lighter, more free to concentrate solely on my work as an actor" .

A protection that is due to the greater wealth of Hollywood productions, but also to the presence of a trade union, "without a collective agreement, Italy is still a jungle".

In the seven months spent "in the beautiful and very cold Chicago", Esposito wrote his first mystery novel: "'The Shaman' was born as a cinematographic subject, but the publisher Sperling & Kupfer thought it could become a novel in its own right. They look at you with enough when you are an actor and switch to writing".

Instead the book did well, so much so that 'Blood Eclipse' has just come out.

A new investigation of the shaman'.

At the beginning of next year, however, I'm preparing my directorial debut", he reveals crossing his fingers and without revealing details. In the meantime, one thing is certain: in September, the shooting of the series inspired by "Piedone", the famous commissioner Rizzo played by Bud Spencer will begin in the 70s.Esposito will not only be the protagonist,

but also co-author of the series, set in the present day.
