An amateur chef claims that until now we've all been cooking our pasta wrong, but what she calls "the right way" has not been well received by many.

This is how to make chicken pasta Fahita (@tamingtwins/)

The first and most obvious rule for making pasta is to cook it in boiling water.

However, an amateur cook claims that there is no need to boil our pasta in advance and that we have wasted unnecessary time on it until today.

Sarah shared a quick and easy Tex-Mex chicken fajita pasta recipe online, but her followers were more distracted by the fact that she didn't boil her fuzzili pasta first.

She said: "Stop boiling your pasta and cook it straight in the sauce, all in one pan. Less washing up. It's so good, so tasty and so fast, you have to try it."

She added: "This is my version of the Chicken Fahita Pasta. It's a combination of some of our favorite dishes, all cooked together in one pan."

This is how she prepares the pasta:

Sarah, @tamingtwins on TikTok, regularly shares with her 300,000 followers easy family recipes that take less than 30 minutes to make.

In her blog she explained how she prepares the pasta in her Tex-Mex - when she cooks the pasta in the sauce.

She starts by browning the chicken, before adding onions, peppers and spices.

Next, she adds her uncooked pasta, before pouring in chicken stock and chopped tomatoes.

She puts a lid on it and leaves the mixture to cook until the pasta is al dente and the sauce thickens.

Then she puts in cream cheese and on top of that she puts grated cheese and toasts it until it's crispy.

You are of course welcome to give up the cheese to keep kosher.

Her discovery attracted a lot of attention on the net, with about half a million views.

In the comments, her followers shared their opinion, with one writing: "This is the best way to cook pasta. My mom has been doing it for years and the pasta has so much flavor."

Another said: "Looks amazing!".

A third wrote: "It looks amazing but I am a man of habits and tradition. Sorry but I continue to stick to the traditional method."

Many thought that her method was completely wrong and did not agree with the idea of putting the dry pasta to cook with the sauce.

"It's wrong, it's against all the rules of cooking pasta," wrote one, and another added: "With all due respect, no. Absolutely not."

Can pasta also be cooked in cold water?

Our own Oz Telam also once wrote that if you open any Italian cookbook, you will read that pasta is cooked in a lot of boiling water, and that the water must be allowed to boil vigorously before adding the pasta.

But this is not the only way to prepare it.

Food expert Alton Brown says that he starts cooking short pasta in cold water - that is, he puts the pasta in a pot, covers with water, brings to a boil, and continues to cook while stirring until the pasta is cooked.

According to the same principle, you can also cook long pastas.

Food writer Harold McGee cooks spaghetti in a wide pan, rather than a pot - he covers the spaghetti in cold water, brings to a boil and cooks until the pasta is done, stirring occasionally.
