Better late than never: According to this motto, the US comedian and filmmaker Mel Brooks completed the sequel to his film »Mel Brooks – The Crazy Story of the World« at the age of 96.

Part two of the parodic version of human history has been running in series format on the US streaming service Hulu since Monday.

Brooks not only lends his voice to the series "History of the World, Part II", but also served as producer and co-writer.

Brooks came up with the new absurd interpretation of world history together with actors Nick Kroll, Ike Barinholtz and Wanda Sykes.

There are a variety of celebrity guest appearances including, according to the trailer, Quinta Brunson, Danny DeVito, Johnny Knoxville, Emily Ratajkowski, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman and Taika Waititi.

The miniseries has eight episodes that will air on Hulu for four consecutive days.

For the time being, nothing was known about a broadcast in Germany.

The slapstick comedy "Mel Brooks - The Mad History of the World" was a worldwide success with its crude jokes about events from the Stone Age to the French Revolution.

Brooks played a clumsy Moses who breaks a stone slab given by God, leaving only the Ten Commandments.

Also in the roles as the fictional Roman Comicus and as the lascivious Sun King Louis XVI.

he hatched then.

The 1981 film ended with the announcement of a sequel starring Adolf Hitler skating.

42 years later, the promise has finally been kept.

Brooks, who was born into a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York, in 1926, has repeatedly made fun of Hitler throughout his career, for example in his comedy »Spring for Hitler« (1968) and in the song »To Be Or Not To Be (The Hitler Rap)«, 1984 also a hit in Germany.

In his most recent work, he tackles Judas' betrayal of Jesus as well as the civil war in the USA, the Russian Revolution, the invention of the telephone and the Allied invasion of Normandy.

Brooks began his career in the 1940s.

The actor, screenwriter and director is one of the few artists in the so-called EGOT group.

That means he was successful at the Oscars and the Emmy television award as well as the Grammy music award and the Tony musical award.

Most recently, Viola Davis and Jennifer Hudson made it into the illustrious circle.
