"Today there are more squadrons than ever before"

"Sometimes people don't expect women to be pilots, but that only happens among those outside the aviation industry," she says.

"In the company where I work, I feel like I'm treated like one of the guys. I've never experienced situations where I wasn't taken seriously or overt sexism. However, I've heard stories like this from other women, so I can't say it doesn't happen at all."

It's no secret that women are a distinct minority in the pilot community, but does she feel that the glass ceiling is cracking for them?

Michelle, who lives in Amsterdam, replies that "We are indeed in the minority, but I do see an improvement. Today there are more pilots than ever before, so I believe we are headed in the right direction. I do not feel that it is more difficult to advance in the aviation industry, since all the requirements and tests are the same (for women and men) . It all boils down to seniority. You won't progress slower or faster because of your gender."

Landing in Iceland: half a million views

The videos that Michelle shares on social networks became viral already about six years ago, and even today they attract a huge number of viewers and commenters.

When she is asked what her favorite part of the flight is, she answers: "The landing."

She also recently posted an amazing video of her landing at Keflavik Airport in Iceland.

The video even garnered more than half a million views.

She also posted a video of the takeoff from the same airport, which received about 214,000 views.

Michelle, who has been in her profession for ten years, has a special fondness for Iceland.

"This is a great place for trips on special roads, observations of the Northern Lights, hiking to glaciers to a volcano, lagoons and much more," she says.

Another popular video on her YouTube channel shows her landing on the Greek island of Santorini.

"The route there is shorter than usual, but landing there is not considered particularly difficult."

And when she is there, she usually goes on ATV trips and watches amazing sunsets from the village of Oia.
