(ANSA) - MONTERREY (MEXICO), MARCH 06 - French tennis player Caroline Garcia failed to definitively turn the page on an uncertain start to the 2023 season, failing in the final of the WTA 250 tournament in Monterrey against the Croatian Donna Vekic.
The number 5 in the world and Mexican draw favorite was beaten by Vekic (n.31 in WTA) by 6-4 3-6 7-5 in 2 hours and 29 minutes of play.
The 26-year-old Croatian won the fourth singles title of her career after those of Kuala Lumpur in 2014, Nottingham in 2017 and Courmayeur in 2021. For her part, the Frenchwoman suffered her second defeat in a final of the Monterrey tournament, after that in 2015 (ANSA).
