A memorandum to the Planning and Construction Law, which proposes a change in the composition of planning committees in a way that will increase the power of the government in the committees - was distributed for public comment last Sunday (03/05) and is set to expire today (03/07) at midnight.

That is, the government "gives" the public only two days to express opposition to the promotion of a law to add two government representatives to the district planning and construction committees in the north and south, from the 11th to the 13th, which will increase the relative power of the government and strengthen its power significantly.

The Planning and Construction Law determines the composition of the planning institutions, including the National Planning and Construction Council and the district committees.

According to the law, the members of the government, who are the members of the national council, are appointed in accordance with the government's decision within the number of representatives established for government representatives by law, and in the district committees by virtue of the provisions of the law and in accordance with the composition of the representatives established therein.

In the memorandum distributed on the website of the Ministry of Justice, it is specified that in accordance with the coalition agreements, which were signed for the establishment of the 37th government, on February 19, 2023, Government Resolution No. 137 was adopted, within the framework of which it was decided to instruct the Minister of the Interior to appoint the Minister of Settlement and National Tasks (or her representative) as a member of the National Planning Council and for construction, as well as to appoint the representative of the Minister of Settlement and National Missions as a member of the district committees in the northern and southern districts.

Therefore, they write, it is proposed to amend the law accordingly.
