Brazilian serial killer Pedro Rodrigues Filho is dead. The 68-year-old was killed by multiple shots on Sunday in the city of Mogi das Cruzes in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, the São Paulo state public security agency said.
The perpetrators were therefore able to escape.
Rodrigues had spent a total of more than 40 years in prison.
According to media reports, he was convicted of more than 70 murders, and he is said to have spoken of more than 100.
The man also known as »Pedrinho Matador« became famous
through interviews in Brazilian media, in which he claimed he killed his victims because of their criminal past.
He counted drug dealers, rapists, thieves and other criminals among his victims.
His actions earned him the reputation of the "greatest serial killer" in Brazilian history.
"Distorted view" of murders
In 2018 he was released from prison.
After that, Rodrigues began posting eye-catching videos on YouTube.
He told stories from his life, commented on spectacular crimes and warned young people against slipping into crime.
Criminologist Ilana Casoy described him as imaginative and intelligent.
He cast a spell over the people of Brazil.
A country in which only ten percent of murders are actually punished brings with it a "distorted view," she told the newspaper "Folha de São Paulo."
