(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 07 - The European Union today, on the eve of International Women's Day, imposed sanctions against officials of six countries, including Russia and Afghanistan, for violence and abuse of rights against women.
The sanctions are part of the already existing regime known as the 'EU global human rights sanctions regime (EUGHRS)'.
Nine people and three official entities were added to the sanctions lists, subject to visa bans and the freezing of any person detained in the EU.
