In March it will be spring everywhere and the gardening season will start again.

The first vegetables can now be sown.

While most types of vegetables still had to be content with growing on the windowsill in February, many types of vegetables are already doing well with the cool ground temperatures in March.

They may be sown directly into the bed.

Don't wait too long and the first fresh salads, herbs and vegetables from your own garden will soon be waiting for you.

Vegetables that you can grow on the windowsill from March

Other vegetables are among the heat-loving plants.

They are sensitive to low temperatures and should therefore be preferred indoors on the windowsill.

In March it is time for tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers, peppers and chillies in particular to be grown in suitable growing pots or bowls.

Cauliflower and broccoli only germinate at temperatures of around 15 to 20 degrees.

That's why they prefer a warm spot in the house to form the first shoots.

Later, the small plants are pricked out before they finally go outdoors.

Tip: It is best to use special potting soil for sowing.

This contains less nutrients than normal potting soil - the shoots grow more slowly and form strong, healthy shoots.
