(ANSA) - MOSCOW, MARCH 07 - A Moscow court has sentenced blogger Dmitry Ivanov to eight and a half years in prison for criticizing the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops: Novaya Gazeta reports it, citing MediaZona in turn.
Ivanov, who edits a Telegram channel called "Protestniy Mgu", is a 23-year-old student of mathematics and computer science at Moscow's Lomonosov University.
The authorities charged him under the new gag law which provides for up to 15 years in prison for disseminating information about the army that is deemed "false" by the Russian authorities.
