(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 07 - The airport of Aleppo, in northern Syria, was targeted last night by an Israeli air raid: the Syrian Defense Ministry has announced this.
"At exactly 2:07am (0:07am GMT), the Israeli enemy carried out an airstrike from the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, and targeted Aleppo International Airport," the ministry said in a statement. .
The attack, he added, damaged the runway, putting the airport out of action.
The airport was also used to bring foreign humanitarian aid to the city, badly hit by the earthquake that devastated several regions of Syria and neighboring Turkey on 6 February.
