The main draw of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 scheduled from 8 to 19 March was drawn during the night and there are five Italians in the main draw: Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Sonego and Fabio Fognini.
Sinner will make his direct debut in the second round against the Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
Possible, if successful, an Italian derby in the third round between Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, the latter after the bye will make his debut against the French left-handed Adrian Mannarino (#68 ATP) or Dominic Thiem.
Matteo Berrettini is also part of the seeds and after the bye he will meet the Spanish Roberto Carballes Baena or a qualifier.
Instead, the other two Italians in the Indian Wells main draw, Lorenzo Sonego and Fabio Fognini, will start in the first round.
The Turinese will face the 29-year-old Australian Jason Kubler.
whoever wins will be Grigor Dimitrov's first opponent, and could meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the round of 16.
Fognini will make his debut by meeting the twenty-year-old American Ben Shelton.
The winner will go to challenge Taylor Fritz in the second round.
There are also five blue women competing in the main draw.
Martina Trevisan will enter the competition directly in the second round against the winner of the match between the American Madison Brengle and a qualifier.
Camila Giorgi has to contend with a player from qualifying: in case of victory in the second round, "very tough" against the American Jessica Pegula.
Elisabetta Cocciaretto was drawn in the first round against the Spanish Parrizas Diaz.
Whoever wins will have to deal with the Spanish Paula Badosa while Jasmine Paolini finds the German Tatjana Maria on the other side of the net: the winner will have to deal with the Russian Daria Kasatkina in the second round.
Lucia Bronzetti makes her debut with the American Bernarda Pera: whoever wins will find the Russian Liudmila Samsonova in the second round.
