Focusing on your search, sending as many resumes as possible and making connections are just some of the necessary steps when looking for a job. The Manpower expert presents the complete list

If you have finished military service, studies, or a position you held and you are looking for a new position - there are several actions that are important to do: at the very beginning, during the process and at the end.

Sapir Shoshan, manager of the Kiryat Gat branch of Manpower, presents them:

Be specific about the fields you are targeting

, this is the time to understand what exactly you are looking for, what field interests you and it does not necessarily have to be the field in which you have finished working now, in which direction you would like to develop and where you see the yourselves in the coming years.

Remember: "You caught a lot you didn't catch".

Tuning to a limited number of fields will refine your options.

Send a large number of resumes

After you have focused on the field you are looking for, start sending the resumes.

Send them to all the jobs that seem suitable for you (in terms of professional knowledge, experience and education required) - and this way you will increase the chance of being interviewed in as many places as possible and choosing from several job offers instead of choosing the one and only default to which you were accepted.

Contact the Manpower experts.

A good placement company will know how to accompany you from the very first moment of the job search process.

We can advise you on writing your resume, we will explain to you how the selection process works and we will try to direct you to the most suitable job.

All of this is done for free, so there is absolutely nothing to gain here.

As soon as you are included in our database of job seekers - you will always be taken into account when a relevant position comes up.

that we refer you to a job interview, the fact that you came through us will provide you with a stamp of quality that the interviewing company takes into account.

On the Manpower website you can find dozens of jobs divided by fields and with the click of a button you can apply for them and send your resume

This is the time to take advantage of your social and family connections (Photo: ShutterStock)

Search actively on social networks

Social networks - Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and even Tik Tok - still play a role when it comes to job hunting.

There are countless job groups on Facebook, LinkedIn is from the beginning a social-business network, and Instagram and Tik-Tok run campaigns by employers, mainly targeting young people.

Invest in each such platform the necessary time to leverage it for your job search needs.

Do not hesitate to make connections,

this is the time to take advantage of your social and family connections.

Don't be shy to use your acquaintances and ask if the organization they work for is looking for employees or if they know someone who knows someone who is looking for someone (which could be you).

If the answer is positive - it is known that a recommendation for a candidate coming from a company employee can make a significant difference and greatly increase your chances of receiving a summons for a job interview.

Know that you are facing a gradual process

Have you been invited to a job interview?

Great, good luck.

Just don't think it ends here.

I mean, there are companies that will settle for one interview, but this is an unusual situation.

Most companies will conduct an interview for you with a professional manager, with a personnel manager and most likely even with the CEO of the company. Some companies will even send you for tests or ask you to take a professional test and most of them will ask for references. Be patient throughout the process, cooperate and thus increase your chances of being accepted Do

not hesitate to ask what the status of your application is

Unfortunately, Israel is a country where there are quite a few employers who do not take care to inform the candidates they interviewed about the fact that they were not accepted for the position they were interviewed for.

If decades ago it was a matter of laziness to print a rejection letter, put it in an envelope and send it by mail, today, when it is possible to do it by email or WhatsApp message - there really is no justification for this.

So know that if a job where you interviewed doesn't get back to you for weeks - it's not normal.

Don't be shy to send a message to the interviewer and ask what the status of your application is.

Do not sign an employment contract without checking it

Did you receive the foreboding phone call you received and utter the requested "shhhhhh"?

Excellent, but do not automatically sign the employment contract offered to you.

Go through it carefully and pay attention to all the sections and sub-sections (what are the working hours? Do you pay for overtime? How many days off do you have a year?).

If necessary, consult with another party who can clarify the meanings of the clauses of the contract.

If something is not acceptable to you - bring it up with the employer and ask to change it.

Please note: in the future it will be much more difficult to open a contractual agreement and change clauses in it.
