A cruise employee was caught red-handed taking pictures in women's bathrooms and was fired.

The woman he allegedly photographed recorded on her camera the moment she realized she was being photographed - and reported it to one of the cleaning workers on the ship.

The video of the moment of capture was posted on TikTok and has garnered more than 10 million views.

"This man was in the women's bathroom located in the kids' club," wrote the victim, identified as Saja.

According to reports, the incident took place aboard the MSC Meraviglia - a cruise ship belonging to the French "MSC Cruises" fleet which was in Geneva, Switzerland at the time.

The horrified passenger claimed that the man locked himself in the nearby bathroom and pointed a camera at her.

In the video, you can see the frightened Saja coming out of the bathroom, turning to the cleaner and telling him: "There is someone hiding there and taking pictures of me."

"man?"

the employee asks - and the passenger answers him: "Yes, it's a man!".

When he turns to investigate the complaint, he is seen knocking on the bathroom door and receives no response.

He then peeks under the door, where he clearly notices two legs.

Seconds later, another employee of the ship arrives, knocks on the toilet door hard and orders the harasser to open the door, as she tries to open it herself.

It must have already scared him enough, and the guy wearing the MSC uniform is seen opening the door and shamefully admitting: "I was wrong."

"We need to call security, because he is an employee of the place," the woman told the cleaning worker.

MSC Cruises said it has since fired the stalker: "Our security team has cooperated fully with the authorities in this investigation," a spokesperson for the cruise line told News.com.au, "We have taken immediate action to terminate the employment of the crew member involved in the incident and have provided support to the injured guests".

The representatives added: "The safety and comfort of our guests and crew is our top priority - and we have a zero tolerance policy for any inappropriate behavior on board our ships."

In a follow-up post, Saja claimed she was contacted by the authorities and informed that a voyeur from the cruise had been fired.

Saja emphasized that her goal was not to blame the cruise line, but to shed light on the disturbing phenomenon, which she claims is "not unique to MSC".

"I want all women to be aware of their surroundings at all times, including on vacation," she said, "stay alert and be safe out there."

Only the tip of the iceberg: sexual assaults and rape on cruises

This is not the first case of alleged misconduct on cruise ships to make waves in recent times.

Last January, a 27-year-old woman from California filed a lawsuit against Princess Cruises alleging that an auctioneer on board the ship raped her - and that she contracted HIV during the attack.

Three more alleged incidents of sexual assault on Princess Cruises ships were reported to the US Department of Transportation from April 1 to June 30, 2022, according to the Daily Beast.

"This case is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to rape and sexual assault on cruise ships," attorney Michael Winkleman told the Post earlier this year. Arguably the most dangerous part is how unaware the general public is of the significant risks they face in the open sea."
