Three times nominated for an Oscar, the seventh feature film from the director of Black Swan marks the return to the big screen of the 54-year-old actor, who could win a statuette for his performance.


Charlie, a literature professor never recovered from the death of his partner.

Immensely unhappy and suffering from morbid obesity, he weighs 270 kilos, can hardly move and lives reclusive from the world, giving his lessons online, in total neglect of food.

When he knows he is condemned to certain death due to heart failure, he attempts a reconciliation with his teenage daughter (Sadie Sink), before it is too late.
