(ANSA) - PALERMO, 08 MAR - The carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Trapani have arrested two people for mafia-political electoral swapping.
They are Michele Buffa, municipal councilor of Petrosino (Tp), for whom house arrest has been arranged, and Marco Buffa, already involved in mafia investigations, for which the investigating judge has decided on prison.
The provision stems from the investigations into Matteo Messina Denaro's fugitive which led, last September 6, to the arrest of 35 people suspected, for various reasons, of mafia-type association, extortion, disturbed freedom of charms, drugs, illegal carrying of weapons and gambling gambling aggravated by the mafia method.
Marco Buffa, already definitively convicted of mafia association and for having favored the hiding of the bosses of the Mazara del Vallo district, and arrested by the carabinieri in September, would have obtained votes for the candidate for the Petrosino city council, in exchange for money and the politician's commitment to facilitate the clans.
