Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu arrived by helicopter at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport from Jerusalem to avoid rigid roadblocks erected by large groups of protesters to prevent his departure for a state visit to Italy.

According to local media, Netanyahu boarded a police helicopter and not the army one which had been waiting for him for several hours near the Hadassah hospital, where columns of demonstrators had gathered.

At Ben Gurion, the prime minister will meet US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin before flying to Rome.

Meanwhile, road blocks have also been reported in Tel Aviv, where hundreds of demonstrators have gathered in the center.

The entrance to the port of Haifa was also blocked for a few hours.

These protest mobilizations are part of the 'National Day of Resistance on Land, Air and Sea' called by organizations opposed to the judicial reform desired by the right-wing government.

In Tel Aviv, meanwhile, the processions are growing, as is happening in other places in Israel, including Jerusalem.

The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, arrived at the Ben Gurion police headquarters: "I have come to strengthen our forces - he said, quoted by Haaretz - we will not allow anarchy".
